Preparing Your Yard For Septic Tank Installation

Are you having a custom home built on some land you bought? If you are, you also may have to install a septic system if the land can't be connected to a city's water and sewer supply systems. You'll have to start planning and preparing land for the installation because you can't simply throw a tank in the yard and start using it. You have to ensure the absorption field (also called the leach field or drain field) is adequate for the job, that tank pumping services won't have trouble reaching the tank, and that you don't inadvertently ruin the tank via poor landscaping.

Septic tank maintenance is a responsibility that property owners should never ignore, but the lack of an obvious problem could lead to not checking up on the system. All seems well until a major leak is discovered. Catching troubles at the early stages is preferable, but things do not always work out this way. Sadly, when septic tank leaks continue unabated for extended periods, additional damage to a property could occur.
